Kentucky commit Tommy Ziesmer featured in Kroger KSR Game of the Week

The Kroger KSR Game of the Week is going to Title Town. Rivals Danville and Boyle County have combined for 21 state championships and will take the field with a great deal on the line. The winner gets to rejoice in victory for the next year and the loser will have to face the defeat from their crosstown rivals. Friday will also feature Boyle County’s Tommy Ziesmer who committed to Kentucky in May. I’m looking forward to watching the defensive end play. Let’s take a look at the two-way star.
As a junior in 2021, Ziesmer was a significant factor for a Boyle County defense that powered its way to a 4A state championship victory and a 14-1 overall record. He appeared in all 15 games for the Rebels, registering 61 total tackles, including 27 solo and a team-high 10 sacks. Ziesmer also recovered a fumble for a touchdown and caught a touchdown on offense during the season. He was also a starter on the 2020 state championship team.
2022 has started off strong for the dynamic defender. Ziesmer has recorded 8 tackles including 2 for loss in the first two weeks of the season. Opponents have often checked plays at the line in order to go in the opposite direction. He also blocked a punt and has created havoc in opposing backfields. Expectations are sky-high for his team to win their third consecutive 4A title.

The 6’1, 245-pound senior picked UK over West Virginia and several others. Primarily playing defensive end, Zeismer relies upon quick bursts along the line of scrimmage and has a powerful punch when eluding and engaging potential blockers. Although extremely well coached, he will be taught more in-depth pass rush techniques at the next level and will be put on a stringent weight/strength gain plan. He relies on speed and athletic ability to win in one-on-one situations.
Tommy Ziesmer is a winner that hails from a tradition-rich program and is well coached and developed. Comparisons to Josh Paschal are going to be hard to pass up. He has a unique skill set and mentality that will be exciting to watch over the next four to five years.
Kroger is a staple in your hometown community just like high school football. There’s nothing quite like Friday nights in the Bluegrass. We are honored to share this journey with Kroger and you for the third consecutive season.
