Tough Loss highlights a long day

by:Matt Jones01/21/07
I just returned from a long and fun day that saw me watch Louisville play in Indianapolis, Kentucky in Champaign and Bradley vs Wichita St live in Peoria. The last of those was actually a great experience and made me a MVC fan from here on out. But as for our Cats, there is no way to hide it...today's loss was big. With the Cats' schedule upcoming this was a must-win and we didn't get it. There were a number of problems but ultimately our inability to stop the three point shot early and penetration late did us in. I do not believe that this is a killer loss that cannot be overcome. However as I will detail later, the next 11 games will tell the tail of the UK program for the next few years. I think UK is at a crossroads in some ways and how they play for the next four weeks will have ramifications for some time. Marshall Moses visited OK State...if he goes anywhere but UK, it is malfeasance on the staff 's part. Finally if the reports on UK football recruit John Keye are true, I can think of nothing sadder. This is the third time in a decade that a UK recruit has passed away after committing to the University and it is truly tragic. All associated with UK are unfortunately once again in mourning and my prayers are with him and his family.
