Tubby Smith wants a shot at his old team, according to the Pioneer Press. He just wants to wait until the Minnesota Vikings' new football stadium opens up to do it. That is four years from now.
Gophers men's basketball coach Tubby Smith, during his tenure at Kentucky, coached the first basketball game played inside Detroit's Ford Field, against Michigan State. Smith said he would love for Minnesota to play Kentucky inside the Vikings' new stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2016. "The sightlines were great," Smith said of Ford Field. "It was one of the best venues for that type of arena, and you'll find that will be the case here, and why you'll see us get a Final Four here."
Coach Cal, assuming he is still here, would love to break in a brand new state-of-the-art arena with his Kentucky Wildcats; it's what he does. But who knows  where Minnesota will be in 2016? And will Tubby even be there? Kentucky will have 32 new players in the NBA by then.
