Kentucky Offensive Line Eric Wolford at Spring Practice

On Wednesday morning Tucker Kattus became the fifth player to commit to Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class. He’s a prospect that has been on the Big Blue Nation’s radar for a long time. The lengthy relationship with the staff, and a new addition, played a pivotal role in his commitment.

The youngest Kattus brother announced his commitment in the second hour of Wednesday’s Kentucky Sports Radio. The talented offensive lineman said Kentucky quickly made him a top recruiting priority and that mattered when weighing his options between the Cats, Missouri, and Wisconsin, among others.

“First of all, the coaches really wanted me there. I’ve been talking to Coach (Eric) Wolford since when he was at Alabama. He’s recruited me a lot. I think he’s one of the best offensive line coaches out there. I mean, the number of offensive linemen he has put out in the league is crazy,” said Kattus.

Eric Wolford was re-introduced to the Big Blue Nation at a press conference on Tuesday, but there are still many who don’t know about the college football journeyman. Kattus shared what he’s learned about the offensive line coach since Wolford returned to Lexington.

“He’s really intense. He knows what he’s talking about. I mean, he’s had a lot of ton of experience in the SEC so he knows what it takes to be a top-tier offensive lineman in the SEC. And he expects a lot from me, but if you work really hard, it pays off.”

It echoes what Wolford shared on Tuesday that sounded a lot like a mission statement for his offensive line.

“Failure is not an option,” said Wolford. “My job as a coach is I work for you, I work for you as a player. Meet me halfway. Meet me halfway and we’re going to have an opportunity to have success.”

Kattus and His Lengthy Relationship with Kentucky

Tucker Kattus is not new to the University of Kentucky football program. He’s been recruited by the Wildcats, Vince Marrow in particular, for years.

“Coach Marrow, he offered me in eighth grade because he saw something in me and ever since then we’ve been building a great relationship.”

Yes, Vince Marrow did offer the youngest Kattus brother when the Big Dog was recruiting Josh Kattus to play tight end for him at Kentucky. During Josh’s two years in Lexington, Tucker has attended numerous games at Kentucky. You can often spot him with his family at the Cat Walk prior to kickoff. He’s felt like a part of the team whenever he spends time in and around the locker room.

“It definitely feels like they have kind of a family going on there. I’ll walk through the locker room, and they’re like, ‘Is that Baby Kattus?’ Then they all dap me up and everything,” said Kattus. “And the coaches love me too. The coaches put me as a priority and they tell me that to my face and say I’m a priority, which means a lot.”

Now that he’s officially all in on Kentucky, Kattus is helping Wolford and Marrow bring others to the BBN. Over the weekend, Kattus was on campus with Darrin Strey, a talented offensive tackle from Michigan. “He’s another priority,” said Kattus.
