After a quiet few weeks on the Kentucky football recruiting front, June is shaping up to be a big month for Mark Stoops’ program. 247 Sports’ Josh Edwards reports two talented four-star recruits will officially visit Lexington next month.

One athlete coming to town is a familiar name for the BBN, wide receiver Shamar Porter. A surprise early addition to UK’s 2023 recruiting class, Porter will take an official visit to Kentucky June 10. Porter, the No. 117 player in America according to On3, pledged his allegiance to the BBN prior to Liam Coen’s departure. Primarily recruited by Scott Woodward, this official visit will give Porter an opportunity to get better acquainted with new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

One week later Kentucky will host Kendrick Gilbert for an official visit. A four-star defensive lineman from Indianapolis, Gilbert is ranked by On3 as the No. 251 player in America. The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks Gilbert as the nation’s No. 42 defensive lineman.

A 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman, Gilbert previously visited Kentucky last fall and this spring. He likes what he’s seen so far in Lexington.

“Coach Stoops he’s doing something big,” he told 247’s Steve Wiltfong. “I think they’re developing guys and putting them in the league and it’s an all-around good program on the come up.”

Iowa and LSU are the Cats’ top competition. He will officially visit Baton Rouge and Iowa City in June. Gilbert’s quarterback at Cathedral High School, Danny O’Neil, received a scholarship offer from the Cats last week. After having a conversation with KSR’s Zack Geoghegan, it sounds like O’Neil is a big Rich Scangarello fan.
