Kentucky is rebuilding its running back room this offseason. After seven seasons with Benny Snell and Chris Rodriguez holding down the fort, it’s getting a facelift. New coach Jay Boulware is putting in work on the recruiting trail with as many as three additions during the Early Signing Period.

Former Georgia Tech commit Jamarion Wilcox was supposed to officially visit Auburn this weekend. The running back that was recently upgraded to a four-star, top-150 prospect by Rivals has been seen as a Kentucky lean for about a month. Shortly after Hugh Freeze was hired by Auburn, he made Wilcox a priority.

It’s unclear if Wilcox ever made it to Auburn this weekend, but we do know that UK made it to see Wilcox. On Sunday morning the talented tailback shared a photo with UK’s new running backs coach while wearing a Kentucky sweatshirt. Whether he made it to the Plains or not, it looks like the Wildcats are in a good spot entering the homestretch.

Wilcox shared that image about two hours after Boulware shared a cryptic message on social media. It appears the Wildcats landed a commitment, but from whom?

It could be Wilcox, however, it’s most likely Ray Davis, the 1,000-yard rusher from Vanderbilt that entered the transfer portal a few weeks ago. He visited the Wildcats’ campus over the weekend and his father has not been shy about his feelings for the BBN on social media. Davis could announce a commitment to Kentucky at any moment. We’ll stay on the lookout here at Kentucky Sports Radio.

There’s one final piece of the puzzle that could be added into the 2023 recruiting class later this week. Cincinnati Winton Woods running back Trey Cornist will announce his decision when the Early Signing Period begins on Wednesday. East Carolina, Kansas State, Louisville, Michigan State, Tulane, and West Virginia are all finalists, but Kentucky is the favorite.

It could be a big week for Kentucky’s new running backs coach. Stay tuned.
