UK Fans of the Day Want Afternoon Notes

catfans1 Some notes on a Crashing Day in the Bluegrass: --- While we have talked a lot here about the good work done with "Hoops for Haiti", the actual games are coming as well. Today on his Conference Call, John Calipari spoke a great deal about Demarcus Cousins. He said that he loves the way he plays and his aggression on the court. He made clear however that he must work on his attitude and get in better shape, calling the determination to get in shape a crucial part of this team's March success. Calipari also said that he believes Cousins has come a long ways in on-the-court demeanor and made the point we have said here for a long time, mainly that Demarcus is as nice and funny a guy as there is and he needs to communicate that on the court. Finally, he compared Boogie to Charles Barkley in front of a camera....a trait we have seen here as well. (And I wont talk about how Boogie clowned me yesterday for the picture on the site here where it looked like I was crying....but he did.) --- Calipari is on the road today as he will be watching Brandon Knight in Dayton, Ohio at what could be the last game seen by the UK staff of Knight. Brandon is THE Point guard recruit in the class and Calipari is trying to sell him on carrying on the Rose-Evans-Wall torch next season. This was a full out assault for Knight, although inclement weather means the staff had to drive, rather than make a dramatic helicopter entrance on the field. --- Rivals.com is reporting that Bryce Callahan a kid from Texas that Joker Phillips had keyed on a bit in the past few weeks has decided to go to school at Rice instead of coming to the Cats. A bit of a disappointment as the staff was interested in his progression. --- From South Carolina writer Phil Kornblut: DE/TE Farrington Huguenin (6-4 230) of Dreher holds offers from SC State, North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T. And he will take an official visit to Kentucky later this month. I always wondered when Kentucky would have a player named Farrington --- If you are around at 3 pm, you can see Michael Gilchrist play on ESPNU. He is scheduled to take the court from what I understand. It would be worth your time to see what could very well be the next future UK star.
