UK student could be arrested for participation in Capitol riots

Following an article published by the KY Kernel, a University of Kentucky student could face possible arrest for her participation in the Capitol riots that recently took place in Washington D.C. Not long after an article titled "'Infamy is just as good as fame': UK student among crowd that mobbed Capitol building" was published to the Kernel's website on Jan. 7, an arrest warrant for UK student, Gracyn Courtright, was filed in an affidavit for her involvement in the storming of the Capitol building that occurred on Jan. 6. A petition on Change.org for Courtright's expulsion from the University has already garnered over 1,400 signatures. In the affidavit, Courtright's identity was found and confirmed through Instagram, where she posted several pictures and videos to her account that showed her rioting inside the Capitol. Courtright, who is a senior mathematical economics major at UK and a native of West Virginia, wrote in a direct message on Instagram, which was later discovered by the FBI, that she was "not embarrassed" by her actions. Her social media accounts have since been deleted and Courtright has yet to make an official response. The following exchange was posted within the affidavit.

It is not known at this time if Courtright has been arrested or if the warrant has been officially issued.
