Lightning "Bolt" strikes again

The fastest man alive had one heck of a swan song last night as Usain Bolt capped his Olympic Career by claiming an unprecedented "triple triple" after helping Jamaica win the 4x100m relay final in Rio. He is the only man to will all three sprint events at three Games - earning gold in the 100m and 200m before joining teammates Asada Powell, Nickel Ashmeade and Yohan Blake last night for a third gold medal with a time of 37.27 seconds. Bolt, who will turn 29 tomorrow, couldn't have gifted himself a better early birthday present by making history and netting his ninth gold medal. With last night's win, Bolt becomes the second most successful Olympian of all time, across all sports. He is second only to the human fish, Michael Phelps, who has 23 gold medals. Bolt has said he intends to retire after the 2017 World Championships in London and has no plans to compete in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. While it was a great night for Bolt, the USA team (comprised of Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Trayvon Bromell) was unfortunately disqualified after finishing third in the relay. The team, draped in American flags, did a victory lap around the track before learning they would not be receiving the bronze after it was ruled Gatlin received the baton too wary from Rodgers during the first handover.

Boogie is going for gold

While we are on the subject of Olympics, Team USA men's basketball pulled out a 82-76 win last night against Spain. Which means DeMarcus Cousins and Co. will be going for gold Sunday. Cousins was absent for most of the game after fouling out after limited minutes. Team USA will get their shot to extend America's eight-year dominance in international basketball and this consecutive gold medal with a victory over Serbia on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. I, personally, have high hopes as the final is essentially a rematch of the 2014 FIBA World Cup final, which the United States won by the way.

Julius Randle today at Wildcat Wearhouse

Separation Saturday commences

The UK Football team are headed to Commonwealth Stadium today for the second scrimmage of the preseason. After today, the USM depth chart will be solidified, redshirts established and scout team decisions will be made. After this, the team will begin preparing for their first game of the season against  Southern Miss on Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Kindsey Bernhard will have an update later today on what's going down in CWS.

Jedrick Wills says recruiting isn't over

By now you've heard "Scoop Lemond" predicted five-star offensive tackle Hedrick Wills will be heading to Alabama after his time with Lafayette. However, after last nights win over Dunbar, Wills acknowledged the rumors about his recruitment to reporters but refuted the reports that he's closed his commitment. Of course, UK fans have heard this story before and usually when Alabama comes knocking, players answer the door. So I think it's safe to say Ryan "Scoop" Lemond's sterling reputation is still untarnished with this one.
