Utah transfer guard Deivon Smith reportedly visting Kentucky this weekend

Deivon Smith, one of the top-ranked guards available in the transfer market, is set to take a visit to Kentucky.
According to Travis Branham of 247Sports, Smith is expected to be in Lexington this weekend for an official visit. The 6-foot point guard spent the 2023-24 season at Utah where he averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 29.5 minutes per game. Smith shot 46.7 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from deep, and 67.7 percent from the line.
Smith started his college career at Mississippi State (2020-21) before transferring to Georgia Tech for two seasons (2021-23) and then to Utah last season. The Georgia native recorded five triple-doubles for the Utes in ’23-24. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
A two-time winner of the Pac-12 Player of the Week award, Smith was tabbed as an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention last season. His five triple-doubles are the most all-time in Pac-12 history and the most ever by a single Utah player — and he did it in just one season. Five triple-doubles is also the second-most for a single season in NCAA history.

Out of Grayson (GA) High School, Smith was considered a four-star recruit and Top 75 prospect from the class of 2020. He landed at Mississippi State first and was a solid bench piece as a freshman, posting per-game averages of 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 22.5 minutes.
From there, Smith transferred closer to home at Georgia Tech and played a similar role as a sophomore: 5.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and two assists in 19.7 minutes per contest. His numbers improved as a junior to eight points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 24.8 minutes per outing. Across his first three college seasons, Smith appeared in 81 games and started in 26 of them.
Once he arrived at Utah, it took some time for him to find his footing. He came off the bench in the first seven games for the Utes but was soon moved into a starting role and even recorded a triple-double in his first start. In Utah’s final game of the season against Indiana State in the NIT semifinals, Smith posted 28 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
