A former in-state prospect is getting another close look from the Kentucky Wildcats.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ohio State transfer Jantzen Dunn, who played high school football at South Warren in Bowling Green, KY, received a visit from Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow. Dunn posted a picture to Twitter of himself standing next to Marrow. The 6-foot-2 safety put his name in the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Dunn was considered a four-star recruit out of South Warren HS and a top 200 player in the class of 2021, per the On3 Consensus. He is cousins with current Kentucky freshman wide receiver Dane Key.

Dunn was at Ohio State for two seasons, redshirting his freshman year in 2021 after appearing in just two games due to a season-ending knee injury. As a redshirt freshman this past season, he only saw time on special teams, playing in a total of four games for the Buckeyes.

Kentucky initially began to recruit Dunn when he was a high school sophomore all the way back in Oct. 2019 — the first Divison I school to extend him a scholarship offer. He would visit UK’s campus in Jan. 2020 but his recruitment began to blow up shortly after that with the likes of Florida, Texas, Southern California, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama all reaching out with offers. Dunn then dropped a top seven in March 2020 that did not include the ‘Cats (but did include Lousiville).

On Tuesday night, just a few hours after news of his transfer broke, Dunn’s father, Mitchell Dunn, tweeted out a list of schools that had already reached out to his son: Florida State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Purdue, Louisville, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Indiana, and Memphis.

Just like his high school recruitment, UK is getting in on Dunn early.

The versatile defensive back could potentially play cornerback, nickel, or safety at the college level. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
