KSR's Rapid Reaction to Kentucky WBB's 78-66 loss at South Carolina

Kentucky lost its last regular season game, falling 78-66 at South Carolina. It was a disappointing result, but the regular season itself was everything but. The Cats ended the year 22-6 overall and 11-5 in the SEC, and Kenny Brooks led Kentucky to a double-bye in the SEC Tournament in year one. Hard to be mad at that.

The difference in the game against South Carolina was, for the most part, points off of turnovers. The Gamecocks had 19 to Kentucky’s six. Kentucky actually out-rebounded South Carolina 34-33, but 10 steals for Dawn Staley’s crew allowed them to get the edge in transition, and ultimately, on the scoreboard.

Clara Strack led Kentucky in scoring, putting up 23 points on 8-14 (2-4 3PT) shooting, also grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out four assists and swatting two shots along the way. Georgia Amoore had 16 points to add in the losing effort.
