Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione and grad transfer third baseman Mitch Daly discussed Kentucky’s 11-0 Second Round loss to LSU in the SEC Tournament postgame.

“I thought it was a close game until the seventh inning,” Mingione said. “I thought the job that Robert Hogan did was awesome. He got us nine big outs, and then Johnny Hummel came in and got us six. I think we retired 13 or 14 straight at one point. Give them a lot of credit, they came back and we had some walks and then you mix in a home run and there’s the game.”

Hogan and Hummel were excellent in relief, combing to allow just one hit and no earned runs in five innings pitched.

“I tip my cap to their starter [Luke Holman], he did a great job,” Mingione said. “He had a really good offense off balance for a long period of time.”

Daly notched Kentucky’s lone hit of the day, a single to left field to open the bottom of the seventh inning.

“Anytime a pitcher can throw 2-3 pitches for a strike, he’s probably gonna give the offense some trouble,” Daly said. “Hats off to him, he did his thing and he kept us off balance most of the game. Like I said though, I felt like we were one inning, one pitch away from turning it around.”
