Since the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby, many have debated the outcome. The overwhelming majority believes Maximum Security took the last turn too wide, causing contact with War of Will that nearly created the greatest disaster in the history of horse racing. When you watch this footage from the race, it's hard to disagree. https://twitter.com/CarsoniPH/status/1125028240144457730 In spite of that video evidence, many believe Maximum Security was unjustly disqualified, and it's not just the horse's owners. While the Wests contemplate legal action, jockey Luis Saez has lawyered up to prevent disciplinary action from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Rick Depass Jr., an assistant trainer, put together the following video to outline why War of Will and jockey Tyler Gaffalione are actually responsible for the collision. The video has been seen by Kentucky Horse Racing Commission stewards. Connections to Maximum Security argue it provides "indisputable evidence" that Maximum Security was wrongly disqualified. I believe the video eloquently paints a broader picture of the race and accurately portrays the gray area encompassing the decision, however, Maximum Security still got spooked on the turn and took it too wide. What do you think? [mobile_ad]
