Well, So Much For That Idea: A Disappointing Turn For The SEC East

by:Will Lentz12/20/10

Last week I wrote a post about the SEC East and how great they were doing this season.  In fact, I went so far as to say that all six teams might make the tournament – and to be fair, I was not alone in this declaration.  A number of national writers made allusions to the same idea.

I officially withdraw my proclamation.

While the SEC East had a collective record of 41-10 when I wrote the post, since then they have limped to a 4-3 record with losses to Jacksonville, Charlotte, and a thumping by Ohio State (and with most wins coming against sub par competition.)

To be fair, there are still three SEC East teams in the top 25, which is nothing to wave a finger at.  But how the rest of the OOC plays out will determine the SEC East’s fate in March.  Because one thing is certain… the West blows.

Over/Under on SEC East teams making the tournament is set at 4.  Whatcha got?
