Wenyen Gabriel closes out Summer League with a bang

by:Jack Pilgrim07/14/18
Wenyen Gabriel’s Las Vegas Summer League came to a close last night, as the Sacramento Kings took down the Golden State Warriors by a final score of 69-67. And the former Kentucky big man put on yet another impressive performance. Gabriel finished with seven points on 3-9 shooting, ten rebounds, two assists, and a block in 25 minutes. But his biggest highlight came in the form of this poster dunk: https://twitter.com/sacramentokings/status/1017968233310109696?s=21 It comes just one game after Gabriel lit up the scoreboard for 15 points on 5/6 shooting: https://twitter.com/sacramentokings/status/1017438434091139073?s=21 He also had a nine-point, ten-rebound outing last Sunday: https://twitter.com/KentuckyMBB/status/1016330156288471043 After a slow start this summer, Gabriel finished with three strong performances to close out summer league when more minutes came his way. He has impressed so much that local writers believe he could earn a Sacramento training camp invite: https://twitter.com/james_hamnbcs/status/1017953578537795584?s=21 If you believe Kentucky head coach John Calipari, he already has a deal locked up with the franchise. “Four of our kids got drafted, and the fifth got a guaranteed deal in Sacramento,” Calipari said in passing on Kentucky Sports Radio last week. De'Aaron Fox, Willie Cauley-Stein, Skal Labissiere, and Gabriel on one roster? Make it happen, Sacramento.
