gerald_fitch2 One of the most loved wildcats under Tubby Smith was Gerald Fitch. Fitch came to Kentucky in 2000 as Mr. Basketball from the state of Georgia. During his four years at Kentucky, he averaged 11 points scoring a total of 1,391, 24th overall in Kentucky history. He is ranked fourth in career 3-point field goals made with 199. In the 2003-2004 season, Fitch was named First-Team All-SEC and won the SEC Tournament MVP. After leaving Kentucky, Fitch went undrafted in the 2004 NBA Draft but was later signed by Washington Wizards as a free agent, but was cut prior to the start of the regular season. Following his waiver from the Wizards, Fitch went on quite the journey during his basketball career. Fitch spent that season playing in the Euroleague and the Ukraine Superleague overseas. In December of 2004 Fitch moved to Croatia and was signed by Cibona Zagreb. The following year, he moved to Ukraine and was signed by Khimik-OPZ Yuzny. Finally in 2005, the Miami Heat signed Fitch as a free agent where he averaged 4.7 points in the 18 games he played in. Then in February of 2006, he was traded to the Houston Rockets for Derek Anderson. Fitch was assigned to the Austin Toros of the D-League and then was recalled a week later. He averaged 19.65 points per game. In Decemeber of 2007, he moved to Italy and was signed by Pallacanestro Cantu where he stayed for two seasons. On January of 2009 he moved back to Turkey to play for Kepez Bld Antalya. Fitch then moved to Spain for 09-10 season to play for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. On December of 2010, he moved back to Turkey and was signed by Aliaga Petkim. On February of 2011 he moved back to Spain to play for the Unicaja Malaga of the Malaga CB until the end of the 2011-12 season. For the 2013-14 season, Fitch signed with the Foshan Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association where he played one season. gerald-fitch-llegar-unicaja-importante-pasado-carrera_1_570958 Fitch moved back to Turney in March of 2014 to play for the Mersin BB of the Turkish Basketball League. Fitch continues to play for Mersin today with former cat, Antwain Barbour. Instead of listing all of his stats for each team he played for, check them all out here. Despite the craziness of traveling country to country and team to team, Fitch's love of the game of basketball triumphed over everything. When you are doing what you love, nothing else really matters.   [embed]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZEPwG6YtlE[/embed]   @kbernhardKSR
