pjwashington Kentucky hosted two 2017 recruits this weekend: five-star power forward PJ Washington and four-star point guard Tremont Waters. Ben Roberts caught up with Scout.com's Evan Daniels this morning to get his views on Kentucky's status with the 2017 class, and when asked to name the one recruit that is most likely to commit to Kentucky, Daniels singled out Washington. “PJ Washington,” Daniels told Roberts. “I think they’re in really good shape with him. Obviously, there’s a lot to play out. And if you asked PJ, he probably wouldn’t tell you they’re his leader. But just from being in this business of examining recruitments, he seems to be a guy that Kentucky is in great shape with.” [Herald-Leader] Adam Zagoria spoke with Washington's father, the head coach at Findlay Prep, and he said the visit -- the first of four official visits Washington has scheduled -- went well. On the trip, Washington and his family toured the facilities, met with academic advisors, Eli Capilouto, and hung out with the team and fellow 2017 recruit Tremont Waters. Calipari reportedly told Washington and his family that he's itching to get the 2017 class rolling. "His message was we need to get the Class of 2017 going, get everybody on board, on the same page," Washington said. "With a school like this, they are going to have about 5-7 scholarships available, so it's just a matter of what kids you want to play with and the style of play and that kind of thing." Washington has visits to North Carolina (Sept. 23-25), Arizona (Oct. 21-23) and Texas (Oct. 28-30) scheduled. His father didn't give Zagoria a timetable for his son's decision, but said he would prefer if he waits until he's taken all of his visits. [ZagsBlog]
