harrison-twins By now, it's clear that Kentucky is the best team in the nation. While the pollsters agree almost unanimously, I thought it would be interesting to see where UK ranks in each statistical category individually. Using teamrankings.com as my source, here is every category in which UK currently stands in the top 10: Scoring Offense Average scoring margin: 1st (+31.6) Average 2nd half margin: 1st (+17.6) Average 1st half margin: 5th (+14.0) Floor percentage: 6th (56.4%) Points from 2 pointers: 6th (45.2) Scoring Defense Opponents points per game: 1st (45.4) Defensive efficiency: 1st (.669) Opponent floor percentage: 1st (32.4%) Opponent second half points per game: 1st (21.9) Opponent points from 2 pointers: 1st (20.0) Opponent non-blocks 2 point percentage: 1st (39.8%) Opponent first half points per game: 4th (23.5) Shooting defense Opponent shooting percentage: 1st (28.2%) Opponent effective field goal percentage: (32.5%) Opponent 2 point percentage: 1st (29.6%) Opponent true shooting percentage: 1st (75.7%) Opponent field goals made per game: 1st (14.5) Rebounding Offensive Rebounding percentage: 1st (46.1%) Offensive Rebounds per game: 4th (14.6) Total Rebounding percentage: 7th (57.8%) Opponent Rebounding Opponent defensive rebounding percentage: 1st (53.9%) Opponent defensive rebounds per game: 7th (17.1) Opponent Assists and Turnovers Opponent assists per game: 1st (6.0) Opponent assists per possession: 1st (.088) Opponent assist: turnover ratio: 1st (.324) Opponent turnovers per possession: 4th (27.3%) Opponent turnovers per offensive play: 7th (23.6%) Opponent turnovers per game: 8th (18.5) Blocks and Steals Blocks per game: 1st (8.6) Block percentage: 1st (16.7%) Misc. Team Effective Possession Ratio: 3rd (1.055) Extra scoring chances per game: 3rd (11.6) --- Clearly, defense and offensive rebounding are this team's strengths. Once the offense (particularly, shooting percentage) gets going.. look out.
