It looks like Will Levis‘ leg injury will sideline him for a second straight preseason game. Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Levis is not expected to play in the Tennessee Titans’ final preseason game vs. the New England Patriots tonight. Levis suffered the left quad injury during a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings on August 17 and missed Saturday’s game, with fellow quarterback Malik Willis taking all the snaps. Paul Kuharsky reports that Levis will warm up tonight, but is doubtful.

Assuming Levis is unable to go, that means even more reps for Willis, who could pull away in the race to back up Ryan Tannehill. The two quarterbacks alternated series in the Titans’ first preseason game vs. the Chicago Bears, with Levis going 9-14 for 85 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Through two preseason games, Willis is 26-42 for 274 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The second-year quarterback out of Liberty also has 14 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown on the ground. While Willis hasn’t been spectacular, it’s hard for Levis to make up ground without more preseason game action.

“It’s nothing too serious, but I’m just gonna make sure I take the right steps to get back on the road to recovery,” Levis told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m just going to take it one day at a time.”

“It is what it is,” he added. “I think the first couple of days that I had it and where I found out I wasn’t gonna play in Minnesota, I was definitely down. Coach Vrabs was kind of quick to know that I was upset and picked me up and said, ‘Keep your head up. You can’t do anything about it. Just listen to the trainers and do whatever you can as a teammate whenever you’re not able to play.’”

Levis returned to practice on Wednesday with a wrap on his leg.

Liam Coen on Will Levis’ injury

Levis’ former offensive coordinator Liam Coen was actually the one who revealed the exact nature of his injury. When asked about Levis’ new lifetime deal with Hellman’s Mayonnaise on Tuesday, Coen brought up a conversation the two had last week.

“I saw something [about the Hellman’s deal],” Coen said. “I talked to him last week, but he didn’t mention it. He mentioned something a couple of months ago, that something might happen.

I know he hurt his quad, so I was a little bit hurting for him there but hey, good for Will. Whatever positivity comes his way, man, is positivity for me.”

Luckily, with a four-year deal, Levis can afford to be patient. Get well soon.
