Wiseman joins new AAU team with more Memphis ties

Unfortunately for Kentucky, it has strong Memphis ties. Wiseman will play for Memphis-based Hoop City Basketball Club for two upcoming Adidas events in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Wiseman had been a member of the Bluff City Legends (formerly Team Penny), most recently at this past weekend's Nike Peach Jam, where he averaged 16 points per game down in South Carolina. But now Wiseman will play for Hoop City, the program previously owned by and named for retired NBA player Mike Miller. Miller's M33M team transitioned to Hoop City after Miller was hired on as an assistant coach at Memphis back in April. Joining Wiseman with Hoop City are Trendon Watford and Chandler Lawson, two highly-rated prospects being recruited by Memphis. Watford is high on Memphis, and his Crystal Ball timeline has eight consecutive picks for the Tigers this summer. Lawson is also one of Penny Hardway's top targets with mutual interest in the program. So as speculation picks up that Memphis could steal Wiseman away from Kentucky, it's not comforting to hear he will be traveling across the country with other players who may pick Memphis too. It also doesn't help that Hoop City is run by Ernie Kuyper, the cousin of Memphis assistant Miller. Ideally, Wiseman would transfer out of Tennessee for grad school next year to get away from the Tigers' push. His latest move is the opposite of that.
