For people my age, it's hard to imagine a college basketball season that doesn't feature a December battle between Kentucky in Louisville. But, yes, there was a time when it wasn't an annual affair and, according to a dapper Brent Musberger, the reasons for not playing the game weren't clear. But, after a little bravado from Denny Crum and Cliff Hagan saying it was his coach's call, it became a regular affair, with the Cats winning 18 of the 30 matchups since its rebirth. With #19 sure to come on Friday, let's take a trip back to when it all began. WARNING: Joe B. and Denny aren't nearly as friendly as they are now and there are no fishing stories to be seen.
