Before Kentucky‘s new crop of talent debuts tomorrow in Canada, Joe Lunardi wants you to know what he thinks of the Wildcats and how John Calipari’s young team could be seeded in next year’s NCAA Tournament. (The one 251 days from now.)

In Lunardi’s latest summer Bracketology update, the Wildcats are the No. 6 seed in the West Region, playing an opening-round game against the winner of the West Virginia/Virginia Tech play-in. Tre Mitchell, Kentucky’s new transfer from West Virginia, would recognize a few faces if the Mountaineers were his first-round opponent.

From there, Lunardi projects Marquette, the West’s No. 3 seed, to be Kentucky’s opponent in the second round to complete a weekend in Pittsburgh. Then the following weekend in Los Angeles, the path to the Final Four could include No. 2 Houston in the Sweet 16 and No. 1 Purdue in the Elite Eight.

To see the entire bracket, head over to ESPN for the new Bracketology, where seven other teams from the Southeastern Conference are included. Tennessee is the league’s highest-seeded team as the No. 2 in the Midwest. Alabama (4), Arkansas (4), and Texas A&M (5) also earned higher seeds than Kentucky in this exercise.

Tomorrow, you can see the ‘Cats for real and form your own opinions on the team and the NCAA Tournament. (The one 251 days from now.)
