WATCH: 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor raves about Jamar Cain, LSU
2023 Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll EDGE Nyckoles Harbor is one of the nation’s best prospects, who is still working through the recruiting process.
LSU defensive line coach Jamar Cain as well as the ties with LSU’s Track and Field program run deep with him. Tamara Ards, his “auntie,” is recruiting him from the track side of things.
“Definitely, that connection that me and coach Cain built over the whole year, it’s been amazing,” Harbor told On3. “It’s been really amazing, truly amazing. Just (knowing) him since Oklahoma to following him to USC and then LSU, it’s been a tremendous journey with him. He’s probably been, I’d say, my best relation with a coach that I’ve had in college football.”
The race for Nyckoles Harbor will stretch to February with National Signing Day. He has three official visits scheduled for December and already took ones to Michigan and South Carolina in September. LSU, Maryland and Miami are the other programs getting official visits from Harbor.
“It’s real close,” Harbor said. “I’m a guy that makes sure that he wants to know where he’s going and that he wants to be very, very, very happy about his decision, and then make sure that I’m making the right decision for me because I got really big goals.”

Nyckoles Harbor scouting report
On3 director of scouting Charles Power compares Harbor to Darren Waller of the Las Vegas Raiders. Harbor could play either side of the ball in college.
“Has the best combination of size and speed we’ve seen from a young prospect as a national-level sprinter at 6-foot-5 and over 230 pounds. Runs under 10.4 seconds in the 100 meters with the size and length of a premier pass rushing prospect. Plays both tight end and defensive end for his high school, but has developed into more of an EDGE prospect as a junior.
“Shows his considerable athleticism as a pass rusher with high end closing speed. Is also able to locate and track the ball as a tight end. Still unrefined technically as a pass rusher. Productive against sub-par competition.”
Nyckoles Harbor ranks as the No. 13 player in the On300. He also tabs in as the No. 1 athlete and the top player in D.C. Michigan leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over LSU South Carolina and Maryland.
