LSU landed a surprise commitment on Monday when 4-star Havon Finney‘s reveal of his top three teams turned into a college commitment.

Finney, a 4-star cornerback out of California, announced his commitment to LSU on Monday, doing so on his mother’s birthday.

LSU led the way on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), which included a pick for the Tigers from The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon.

LSU beat out Southern Cal, Michigan, Oregon and more for Finney, who reclassified from the 2027 class into the current 2026 class earlier this offseason.

Finney is the No. 55 overall prospect and No. 7 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in California.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder made his way to Baton Rouge for multiple spring visits as LSU snatched the momentum in his recruitment.

He now joins LSU’s No. 1 ranked class, which the Tigers have held onto for nearly two months on the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

LSU adds another big piece to 2026 class

The addition of Finney gives LSU’s No. 1 class a total of 10 commits for the 2026 class. He’s the fifth Top 100 prospect to join the fold in Baton Rouge.

Finney is the third defensive back in the class, joining four-star safety Aiden Hall and and four-star safety Dylan Purter. He becomes the first cornerback to join Raymond’s room for the current 2026 recruiting cycle.

LSU was the team out front on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for Finney, and the Tigers are also the leader for 2026 cornerbacks Dezyrian Ellis and Hayward Howard Jr., who are both rising seniors in Louisiana with offers from Raymond and LSU.

Stay tuned to The Bengal Tiger and On3 for more as LSU’s top-ranked class hits double-digit commitments.
