LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson is officially OUT for Saturday night’s game against South Carolina. The official team injury report lists Anderson as a”game time decision”, and Anderson went through pregame warm ups, before coming out in sweats and without pads.

On Wednesday night, Anderson was listed as questionable throughout the week, but Brian Kelly was constantly talking about the fact Anderson was banged up coming out of the Ole Miss game.

“He had a litany of things: Hip, toe, knee. He’s banged up,” Kelly said during the bye week of Anderson. “If we were playing Saturday, I’d say he’d probably answer the bell, but he’s going to benefit greatly from the week off. Modern medicine will get him ready for the South Carolina game.”

Anderson has 305 yards on 23 receptions this year and has been a crucial part of LSU’s offensive success. Unfortunately, LSU will be without its leading receiver for this game and will have to find answers on offense without him.

With Anderson sidelined, the Tigers will turn to Nic Anderson, Kyle Parker, and others to fill the void and look to produce on the perimeter against the Gamecocks

LSU-South Carolina injury report

Here is that update to the injury report for the Gamecocks and Tigers, according to those at the SEC:

LSU Tigers

  • DE Gabriel Reliford – Out
  • OL Paul Mubenga – Out
  • WR Aaron Anderson – Questionable

South Carolina Gamecocks

  • OL Markee Anderson – Out
  • OL Nolan Hay – Out
  • OL Cason Henry – Out

LSU did not have any changes to the report from Wednesday to Thursday with each of their players keeping their respective designations. That’s mostly of note for their offense with their leading rusher in Durham labeled as probable but also their leading receiver in Anderson being questionable. On the season, Durham has rushed 52 times for 213 yards and two touchdowns while Anderson has been a reliable target for Garrett Nussmeier.

LSU looks to improve to 5-1 against South Carolina on Saturday night with kickoff at 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

From the health of wide receiver Aaron Anderson and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier to the execution of the running game, there are ample questions about this LSU offense and Kelly is optimistic that the offense is going to be able to play its best game of the season on Saturday.

“I think I’ve made it pretty clear we have to be more consistent offensively,” Kelly said. “We have to be more productive. It’s been on again, off again. It needs to be much more consistent in its performance. That’s where our offense needs to be. Is it going to be on Saturday? I hope so. But I know the process and the work we’re doing. Nothing’s up for discussion. We’re looking at every facet of our offense to be more consistent and have a more balanced approach.”
