2025 Metairie (La.) St. Martin’s Episcopal running back Harlem Berry debuts as the No. 13 overall prospect in the country and No. 2 running back in the nation. The first 2025 On300 ranked him as the No. 1 prospect in Louisiana.

On3 director of scouting Charles Power loves the combination of speed and vision that the 5-11, 165-pound back displays on tape. Berry carried it 126 times for 1,710 yards and 30 touchdowns as a sophomore.

“We like Harlem Berry a lot. I think that’s indicative of where we have him ranked,” Power said. “Harlem Berry has a ton of upside. Everyone is well aware of his game-breaking ability, the long speed, the athleticism with what he’s done in track and field, but what really impressed me about Harlem Berry was the actual in-game translatable running back skills.

“By that, I mean the change of direction, field vision. Several times on his sophomore film where he gets hemmed in and it looks like a situation where you go, ‘How does he get out of this?’ He finds his way out.”

That feel that helped him to a massive season ultimately stood out. He dominated his level of competition.

“We knew the type of athlete he was, but seeing the feel for running was very impressive,” Power explained. “He hits some marks from a production standpoint. Doesn’t play the strongest competition, but dominates at a level that you would hope for from a prospect of his caliber. The player, there’s a ton to like with him.”

Programs like LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Mississippi State, USC, Florida State, Oregon, Oklahoma and others have lined up to offer him. Still, he’s a back that needs to add mass to aid his longterm NFL potential.

“The biggest thing with Harlem Berry moving forward is where does he end up from a size perspective? He was around 165 pounds last offseason,” Power said. “When you’re looking at running back, that is something that matters. The majority of running backs that are drafted high, first round, almost all of them are over 200 pounds. So he’s got a ways to go to get there, but he’s got a lot of time. If he fills out and is able to get bigger and has us feeling good about him being a potential 200-pound running back, that combined with his speed and feel for position, I think he is a serious contender as No. 1 running back in the country and in the five-star discussion.”

Harlem Berry is joined by Ousmane Kromah (No. 11) and Donovan Johnson (No. 19) at the top of the On300. It’s a talented group in early five-star range right now.

“We think this group of 2025 running backs at the top is very good at this stage,” Power said. “To be honest, Cody Bellaire and I came away thinking that the Top 3, who all rank in the Top 20 for us in this initial release, would really contend for the top running back prospect in 2024 as well. At least when you’re looking at long-term potential.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Berry ranks as the No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 running back overall as well. LSU leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
