LSU adds Oregon State star infielder from transfer portal

With the MLB Draft complete, LSU has picked up another transfer portal infielder, this time with Trent Caraway. A talented infielder who helped lead Oregon State to Omaha this past season, Caraway was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Corvallis Regional.
He ended last year with a .267 batting average, but with 12 home runs, 15 doubles, , 47 RBIs, and 30 walks on the year. Six of his home runs came in the postseason, a record for Oregon State, as he delivered when it mattered most.
On defense, he had a .889 fielding percentage with 12 errors in 64 games, primarily playing third base. LSU now has several options in the infield as head coach Jay Johnson had to replace a few key pieces of the defense and lineup after the national championship run.
He is the eighth transfer-portal target to announce his commitment to the Tigers, including four pitchers and now four position players.

Caraway joins Grand Canyon first baseman Zach Yorke, Kansas State infielder Seth Dardar and High Point infielder Brayden Simpson as the incoming bats with all four players having hit at least 12 home runs in 2025 for teams with winning records.
He is the Tigers’ third transfer commitment since the end of the draft, along with Angelo State pitcher Dax Dathe late Monday and Zach Yorke on Tuesday.
Dathe joined Tennessee lefty Ryler Smart, Oregon left Santiago Garcia and North Dakota lefty Danny Lachenmayer as the Baton Rouge-bound pitchers thus far.
