Another key member of LSU’s national championship team came off the 2025 MLB Draft board shortly before noon Monday.

The Milwaukee Brewers selected second baseman Daniel Dickinson in the sixth round with the No. 185 overall pick.

The veteran infielder, who transferred this year from Utah Valley State, became the first member of the Tigers’ title squad chosen on Day 2 and the fifth overall.

“One-of-a-kind competitor,” LSU coach Jay Johnson posted via X/Twitter. “Danny coming to LSU is a huge reason we won the national championship. The ultimate ball player. Congratulations, Danny!”

Dickinson started the spring strong at the plate and settled into a .315 average and .525 slugging percentage with 14 doubles — all fifth on the team — and 12 home runs — third-most for the Tigers.

He also recorded just four errors in 225 chances at a high-leverage position in LSU’s strong defensive performance during the title run.

The approximate pick value for the No. 185 pick is listed by MLB.com at $344,400.

“Dickinson excels at making contact with a simple right-handed swing and outstanding hand-eye coordination,” according to his MLB.com scouting report. “He controls the strike zone well, uses the entire field and has no obvious weaknesses at the plate. There are questions about how much impact he’ll make with wood bats, however, because he has average raw power at best (mostly to his pull side) and slashed .182/.311/.222 between Team USA and the Cape Cod League last summer.

An average runner, Dickinson steals bases more with savvy and aggressiveness than speed. He struggled at shortstop during fall practice at LSU, and his average range and arm strength are better suited for second base. That was his primary position at Utah Valley and on the Cape, where he also saw action at third base, short and left field.”

The second day of the 2025 MLB Draft, comprised of rounds 4-20, is rolling.
