2023 LSU defensive back commit Daylen Austin notched a pick-six on Friday in Long Beach Poly’s win over Leuzinger. Check out the big play below by the four-star prospect.

The key to Austin’s improvement to his senior year was running track and spending time with LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples this summer.

“I ran track and then I recovered from my hamstring. I got that back strong,” Austin told On3. “Talking with Steeples, going to that camp to get me refreshed so that’s how I was feeling. I picked up his coaching style and he taught me a few new techniques for press. I really appreciate that about him and he’s a smart man.”

Daylen Austin ranks as the No. 148 overall prospect and No. 16 cornerback in the nation, according to On3. According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Austin ranks as the No. 115 overall prospect and No. 12 cornerback nationally.

Daylen Austin scouting report

“Brings a combination of size, athleticism and playmaking to the table at cornerback. He has solid size at 5-foot-11.5, 176 pounds. Austin has shown some improved speed this spring, running 10.82 seconds in the 100 meters. He had a strong junior season and really excelled as a return man. We saw Austin’s playmaking ability on display as he took several kick and punt returns to the house. He drives on the ball in coverage. Austin also shows ball skills at corner with the ability to track and high-point the ball downfield.”

Daylen Austin has an On3 NIL Valuation of $140K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. While the algorithm includes deal data, it does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s NIL valuation for their entire career. The On3 NIL Valuation calculates the optimized NIL opportunity for athletes relative to the overall NIL market and projects out to as long as 12 months into the future.
