The LSU football staff will host a pair of the top cornerbacks in the country when Kobe Black and Devin Sanchez head to Baton Rouge this weekend.

Black is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle, checking in as the No. 2 cornerback in the country on the On3 Industry Rankings.

Black has already made a handful of unofficial visits this offseason, including Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M. He’s set to follow up his LSU visit with a trip to Alabama on April 20.

For the 2025 recruiting cycle, one of the country’s top cornerback prospects is Sanchez. The four-star out of Houston is ranked as the No. 3 cornerback in by the On3 Industry Rankings, checking in as the No. 1 recruit in Texas and No. 12 overall prospect in the country.

The No. 2 CB in the country is in Baton Rouge for the weekend

Waco (Texas) five-star Kobe Black will spend multiple days in Baton Rouge this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound five-star defensive back announced his top 11 schools on April 6, and the Tigers made the cut.

“LSU’s known for DB’s,” Black told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 2. “It’s DBU, really. That’s big. And they put DB’s in the league every year.”

Black also shared with Simmons that of all the college coaches he’s spoken with, he keeps in contact the most with LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples.

Black is the No. 14 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.

LSU’s 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 12 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the SEC. The Tigers have commitments from 12 players, including two cornerbacks in Gainesville (Ga.) four-star Zion Ferguson and New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton three-star Wallace Foster. Both Ferguson and Foster got on board with the Tigers in the fall.

LSU gets another elite cornerback to campus

North Shore (Houston) prospect Devin Sanchez will be in Baton Rouge this weekend for a visit with the LSU coaching staff, which gives the sophomore an early look at the Tigers as Brian Kelly and Co. work through spring practices.

“LSU is another big program,” Sanchez told On3. “SEC. Where all the smoke is at, where all the big schools, all the games. If you want to go big, you go to the SEC.

“LSU’s been on the radar just like the Alabama‘s and the Clemson‘s and Georgia‘s. LSU is another big-time school that I’m glad (offered).”

The Tigers offered Sanchez a verbal scholarship in January. His former high school teammate, Denver Harris, transferred to LSU this offseason from Texas A&M.

“That’s what I told coach (Robert Steeples) is that it’s a big impact for me because I got to watch Denver play his senior year and his junior year, watching some of his film,” Sanchez said. “(When I visit) LSU, I’m pretty sure I’d be with Denver and taking a tour with him because he’s my teammate and I’ve been around him. I know how he moves.”
