Only seven players earned the elite “99” overall rating in the newest installment of the Madden video game series.

And a pair of former LSU stars, both Louisiana-born wide receivers, earned two of those spots to account for nearly 30% of this year’s “99 Club.”

Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson is now a three-time member of the group — according to the franchise — while former national-championship running mate Ja’Marr Chase joined him and became the first player in Cincinnati Bengals history to garner the distinction.

Jefferson, the former Destrehan standout, has led the league with 7,432 receiving yards since his rookie season in 2020.

Chase, the former Archbishop Rummel standout, is third since his rookie season in 2021 with his 5,425 yards following only Jefferson (6,032) and Tyreek Hill (5,707).

He achieved the rare receiving triple-crown last season as he led the league with 127 catches for 1,708 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns — all career-high marks.

Chase became the youngest player to ever manage the feat and just the fifth total since the AFL-NFL merger.

Jefferson’s 1,533 yards were second in the NFL last season with his 103 catches and 10 touchdowns both also ranking in the top six during a historic all-around season for former LSU receivers.

John Madden Football was first released in 1988, began officially licensing its annual editions with the NFL in 1993 and NFL Players Association in 1994 and has utilized its current player ratings system (capped at 99) since 2002.

Joining Jefferson and Chase this year are Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and offensive lineman Lane Johnson, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

Madden 26 is schedule to be released Aug. 14, with pre-ordering of Deluxe and MVP editions granting early access for consumers to begin playing the game Aug. 11.
