LSU head coach Brian Kelly took questions from local media at his weekly press conference ahead of Saturday’s SEC game vs. South Carolina.

LSU’s month of September included five games that resulted in four wins and a loss, with the loss coming to close out the month in a 24-19 game at Ole Miss.

Prior to dropping the first game of the year to the Rebels, LSU won at Clemson before logging home victories vs. Florida in SEC play, as well as non-conference matchups with Louisiana Tech and Southeastern.

South Carolina is 3-2 on the year coming off a bye week, and the two SEC teams will meet under the lights of Death Valley on Saturday night.

On3’s Pete Nakos tabs LSU vs. South Carolina as a Top 10 game to watch in Week 7

“LSU and Brian Kelly are coming off the bye after losing at Ole Miss. Garrett Nussmeier’s health remains a concern as he deals with an abdominal injury. How he looks coming off a week of rest will be key to what the remainder of the season looks like for the Tigers. South Carolina already has two losses but could re-enter the CFP mix with a win in Death Valley at night.” – Nakos

It’s another significant challenge for the Tigers who look to get quarterback Garrett Nussmeier back on track along with the overall offensive production.

On3’s Brett McMurphy has the Tigers ranked as the No. 7 team in the country on his AP ballot and is high on the defensive effort. Still, it’s the offense that has him and others operating with caution when discussing this team.

“The Tigers, who were off this week, host South Carolina on Saturday. LSU’s offense continues to struggle. The Tigers have not scored more than 20 points against their three Power 4 opponents this season and have the SEC’s fifth-worst offense.”
