After a brutal month of travel that included two different trips to the West Coast, the Michigan State basketball team will not have to leave East Lansing until a road game against Wisconsin (January 10). The same, however, is not true for Michigan State coach Tom Izzo or members of his staff.

After beating Brown 68-58 on Saturday, Izzo hit the road recruiting. Both he and Spartan assistant coach Doug Wojcik were in Wellesely, Mass., on Sunday to watch Class of 2024 shooting guard Kur Teng and his Bradford Christian Academy teammates take on the Brimmer and May School in the Scholar Roundball Classic at Babson College.

Teng put on a show in front of Izzo, scoring 23 points while playing 20 minutes in a win over the Brimmer and May School. Teng scored 18 points in the first half and went a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the 3-point line.

Ranked the No. 35 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 by On3, Teng is ranked No. 10 at shooting guard and No. 1 in Massachusetts.

Teng turned heads last summer playing up an age group with MassRivals on the adidas 3ssb Circuit where he averaged 13.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 36 percent from three. Teng averaged 2.1 threes per game for MassRivals.

Teng currently holds scholarship offers from Michigan State, Rutgers, Providence, Auburn, Iowa, Miami, TCU and Clemson among others.

At this time, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine considers Michigan State a heavy favorite in the recruitment of Teng.

Teng, who has already taken an official visit to Michigan State, said the following about the Spartans in an interview with On3 basketball recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw earlier this month:

“They’re one big family. They’re all together 24-7, eating together at the coach’s house, going out together. In the dorms, they’re all together; they’re, for real, just one big family. I love watching them play. They like to run stuff for their shooters, coming off pin-downs. I like to play off screens, let the shot go, curl into the mid-range, or finish at the rim, depending on the read. They play so hard, too; I like that.”

Rutgers and Providence are also among the schools recruiting Teng the hardest.
