On3 and Rivals have officially merged their recruiting rankings. On3’s old rankings have been updated and are now being labeled as Rivals, while Rivals’ old rankings have disappeared entirely.

Obviously, this has caused dramatic changes for the Industry rankings as several Michigan commits saw big rises and drops. Remember, the Industry now equally weighs rankings from the three major recruiting services — On3/Rivals, 247 and ESPN.

Here is a closer look at how each U-M pledge was impacted.

QB Brady Smigiel, Newbury Park (Calif) High — Smigiel dropped 24 spots from No. 92 to No. 116 overall. Smigiel has been slipping in the rankings in recent updates and is just inside the Top 300 in the new Rivals rankings.

RB Jonathan Brown, Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis DeSales — Brown moved up 345 spots from No. 1,007 to No. 662 overall. Brown was unranked when Michigan landed his commitment last month.

WR Travis Johnson, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith — Johnson moved up 40 spots from No. 161 to No. 121 overall. Johnson is one of Michigan’s best commits on the offensive side of the ball.

WR Zion Robinson, Mansfield (Texas) High — Robinson dropped 19 spots from No. 160 to No. 179 overall. Robinson’s rankings are all over the place. Two services have him ranked as a Top 125 recruit, while one has him as a three-star.

WR Jaylen Pile, Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal — Pile dropped 541 spots from No. 902 to No. 1,443 overall. Pile is ranked as a three-star prospect by every service. He is the lowest ranked non-specialist in the class.

TE Matt Ludwig, Billings (Mont.) West — Ludwig dropped 27 spots from No. 129 to No. 156 overall. The services seem to disagree on Ludwig. One service has him inside the Top 100, while two others have him outside of the Top 200.

TE Mason Bonner, Denver (Colo.) Mullen — Bonner dropped 13 spots from No. 446 to No. 459 overall. Bonner is ranked as a three-star by every recruiting service.

OL Malakai Lee, Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha — Lee dropped 32 spots from No. 119 to No. 151 overall. Lee is ranked as a Top 100 prospect by one service but is in the 175-275 range for two others.

OL Marky Walbridge, Needham (Mass.) St. Sebastian’s — Walbridge dropped 71 spots from No. 396 to No. 467 overall. Walbridge is ranked as a Top 250 prospect on one service but is a three-star on two others.

OL Bear McWhorter, Cartersville (Ga.) Cass — McWhorter moved up 101 spots from No. 578 to No. 477 overall. McWhorter is ranked as a Top 200 prospect by one service but is a three-star on two others.

DL Titan Davis, St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet — Davis moved up two spots from No. 105 to No. 103 overall. Davis is ranked in the Top 100-175 range by all three services.

DL Alister Vallejo, Liberty Hill (Texas) High — Vallejo moved up 123 spots from No. 349 to No. 226 overall. Vallejo has been a steady riser in the rankings and is now a four-star prospect across the board.

EDGE Carter Meadows, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga — Meadows moved up six spots from No. 36 to No. 30 overall and is now an Industry five-star prospect. Only one service has Meadows ranked outside of the Top 50.

EDGE Julian Walker, Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork — Walker moved up 28 spots from No. 180 to No. 152 overall. Walker is ranked as a Top 250 prospect by every service.

EDGE McHale Blade, Chicago (Ill.) Simeon — Blade dropped 51 spots from No. 155 to No. 206 overall. Blade is ranked as a Top 275 prospect across the board despite missing last season due to injury.

EDGE Tariq Boney, Washington (D.C.) St. John’s — Boney moved up 65 spots from No. 656 to No. 591 overall. Boney is ranked as a four-star prospect on one service but is ranked as a three-star on two others.

LB Markel Dabney, Richmond (Va.) Huguenot — Dabney moved up 167 spots from No. 816 to No. 649 overall. Dabney is ranked as a three-star prospect by all three services.

DB Andre Clarke, Richmond (Va.) Hermitage — Clarke moved up 38 spots from No. 185 to No. 147 overall. Clarke is ranked as a Top 150 prospect by two services.

DB Dorian Barney, Carrollton (Ga.) High — Barney dropped 39 spots from No. 199 to No. 238 overall. Barney is a four-star on two services but a three-star on another.

LS Colton Dermer, Phoenix (Ariz.) O’Connor — Dermer dropped 276 spots from No. 1,701 to No. 1,977 overall. Only one service has Dermer ranked at this time.

K Micah Drescher, Hinsdale (Ill.) Central — Drescher was unranked prior to the merger. He is now ranked as the No. 1,979 overall prospect nationally.
