Michigan landed a commitment from one of the most intriguing prospects on the board this cycle in 2023 Paris (France) Pionniers de Touraine EDGE Aymeric Koumba Friday afternoon. That adds to an already fantastic EDGE class comprised of Colleyville (Texas) Covenant Christian four-star Enow Etta and Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic fellow four-star Collins Acheampong.

Michigan produced two high-level NFL Draft picks at the EDGE position in Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo, which played a huge role in Koumba’s decision.

“I knew about Michigan because of the pass rushers like Hutchinson and Ojabo,” he said. “I’m a big fan of Ojabo, I want to play like him. A guy like him motivates me. To have the chance to be at the same place as him is really good.”

Michigan defensive line coach Mike Elston offered Koumba after watching him in a Mercer University mega camp earlier this summer. And the two connected right away.

“I want to be with coaches who can push me and make me the best,” Koumba said. “Coach Elston is really like that I feel good with him.”

Koumba chose Michigan over other early offers, Vanderbilt, Colorado, and Connecticut. He was also in communication with Penn State, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Purdue, and others.

Michigan football players partnered with the Michigan Army National guard for an NIL deal that allowed them to helicopter around metro Detroit, including a flyover of The Big House.

The MDen — Michigan’s officially licensed retailer — continues to be progressive when it comes to partnering with U-M athletes. They’ve sold jerseys and other merchandise over the last year, and now select U-M players will receive their own bobbleheads.

Quote Of The Day

“Juwan Howard played and coached at the highest level so he knows what it takes to get there, and he also has connections. Michigan is known for their Fab Five run and Juwan was a part of that so he’s very passionate about Michigan. He’s also a great individual and a role model.”
