Michigan is now ranked No. 24 in the 2023 On3 Consensus national team recruiting rankings after landing a commitment from French EDGE Aymeric Koumba. Michigan moved up one spot with the addition, leaping Big Ten bunkmate Northwestern.

Koumba committed to Michigan over offers from Colorado, UConn and Vanderbilt. At 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Koumba is rated as a three-star prospect by On3. Aymeric is the third EDGE in the 2023 class for Michigan, joining four-star recruits Collins Acheampong and Enow Etta.

The Michigan Class

As a result of Koumba’s commitment, the Wolverines have a total score of 88.103, placing them just behind Texas Tech, which has a score of 88.144.

Michigan is very much in play for Top 100 prospects like EDGE Nyckoles Harbor, defensive back Javien Toviano, defensive back Makari Vickers, athlete Jacobe Johnson, athlete Jeremiyah Love as well as other top targets like Florida commit Aaron Gates, four-star defensive lineman Kayden McDonald and four-star defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner. And that means the Wolverines should move up the rankings soon.

U-M hosted a number of these prospects on official visits during June and is set to have its annual BBQ at The Big House at the end of this mont.

The 12th member of the 2023 Michigan recruiting class, Aymeric joins On300 EDGE Enow Etta, consensus four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star EDGE Collins Acheampong, four-star running back Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman, four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star wide receivers Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore, three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr, three-star running back Benjamin Hall and highly touted kicker Adam Samaha.

Michigan is looking to take around 25 prospects this cycle.

U-M is ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten, trailing Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State, Iowa.
