Porter Recruitment

Michigan is looking for a big-bodied wide receiver this cycle and is making Porter a top priority. Both U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy and area recruiter Grant Newsome have been in constant communication and have the Wolverines in the mix here.

Porter made his first-ever visit to Michigan over the summer when he attended the annual BBQ at The Big House in late July. Porter got an in-depth look at the program and facilities and also had a chance to work out with Bellamy.

Porter returned to Michigan for his second unofficial visit this spring and enjoyed his time on campus. Here are Holland’s thoughts on his recruitment:

“Quincy is such a dynamic player and really unlike anybody on Michigan’s roster right now,” Holland said. “If he ends up signing with Michigan, I think he could come in and potentially start as a true freshman. Michigan is making him a major priority this cycle. It’s no surprise he’s ranked as the No. 47 overall recruit in the country. I have said it for about a year now. I think Michigan is right up there with Ohio State.”

Along with Michigan, Porter holds offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.

At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, Porter is ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 47 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of New Jersey.

Michigan currently has the lead for Porter on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 29.0 percent chance of landing him. Ohio State is in second place with a 21.2 percent chance of landing him.

Michigan currently has five commitments in its 2025 recruiting class — Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick defensive lineman Nate Marshall, On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens. The class is ranked No. 16 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
