The Wolverine Chats Avery Gach Commitment, Marquise Davis To Kentucky & More Notes From The Road

Takeaways from Michigan landing a commitment from four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach on May 3 were discussed on The Wolverine live Tuesday recruiting show with analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby.

Holland and Libby also spoke on a number of key 2025 targets they recently saw on the road during the spring evaluation period, including On300 Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh

Watch the full show above.

Olesh Recruitment

Olesh was one of the first 2025 tight ends to pick up a Michigan offer soon after new tight ends coach Steve Casula was brought onto head coach Sherrone Moore’s staff earlier this offseason. The junior made his way to Ann Arbor for the first time with family in the spring and is slated to return on June 21-23 for an official visit.

“I want to spend more time with the coaching staff,” Olesh previously told The Wolverine. “I didn’t see the full campus, so I want to see that and living arrangements. Also, talking to the players and seeing how they like Michigan and how I would fit in there.”

Michigan will be last on the June official visit docket for Olesh before the summer dead period. Alabama (May 31-June 2), Florida (June 7-9), and Penn State (June 14-16) are also expected to host Olesh in the coming weeks.

Here’s what Holland had to say about where Michigan stands.

“Look, Penn State is considered the heavy leader on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but Michigan’s made up a lot of ground lately,” Holland said. “They hosted him for his first unofficial visit this spring. He’s locked in to come back for an official visit this summer. The entire offensive staff went to (Olesh’s school). I had a chance to talk to Olesh after school last Friday, and he told me that the meeting (with the staff) gave him a lot to think about. They pitched him on being the next Colston Loveland. They talked a lot about the tight end production. Obviously, those are easy sells for Michigan.”

Along with Michigan and his three more planned officials, Olesh currently holds notable offers from Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Syracuse, Colorado, Miami, Michigan State, Arkansas, and others.

At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Olesh is ranked as the No. 79 overall prospect and No. 3 tight end in the country, according to On3. He’s also the No. 4 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania.

Five verbal commits make up Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class – Gach, Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall, On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens
