2026 tight end Adam Land breaks down Mississippi State decision

Over the past year, 2026 tight end and On3 three-star prospect Adam Land has become quite comfortable on Mississippi State’s campus through numerous visits. On Tuesday evening, the Mosley (Fla.) High School standout followed that feeling and committed to the Bulldogs.
Land is rated as the nation’s No. 55 tight end per On3 rankings and becomes the 10th commitment for Mississippi State’s Class of 2026. This past season he had 22 catches for 337 yards and two touchdowns.
“I was talking with my dad,” Land recalled. “We had come home from a couple of camps and we’re just talking. There’s really no place that could outweigh what Mississippi State has already done for me. It was at the point where it was the time to do it and I look forward to going on my official visit in a week.”
Land also held Power 4 offers from Baylor, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Houston along with numerous G5 offers. But in the end, his bond with Mississippi State tight ends coach Jon Cooper was a determining factor.
“My relationship with Coach Cooper is just great,” added the 6-foot-3.5 and 215-pound Land. “I mean, he was my first offer. So it is safe to say we have a great relationship. He understands me as a person and he’s always been good to me and my family every time we visited. It was ultimately why Mississippi State was No. 1 for me.”
Another key factor, shared Land, was the way head coach Jeff Lebby uses the tight ends position within his offensive scheme. That was something that caught Land’s attention when he visited the Bulldogs during spring practices.
“There is a good opportunity for the tight end at Mississippi State,” Land explained. “Especially with my size, I am a solid 6-foot-3.5 and I’m not the biggest tight end. But the use route-running tight ends, for sure. I like to classify myself more as a route-running tight end but I do like to block. But Mississippi State uses the tight end efficiently in their playbook. That was a big factor to it, as well.”

Land also wants to take advantage of that opportunity as soon as possible. A standout in the class room, too, Land is planning to enroll at Mississippi State in January.
“The plan for now is to graduate early,” noted Land. “Hopefully it will be a big deal and working for me to get in the playbook and rotation as fast as possible. That’s why we’re doing it.”
Once Land does begin his college career in Starkville, he will reunite with a former teammate from Mosley High School. This past December, On3 three-star defensive back Lo’Kavion Jackson signed with Mississippi State’s Class of 2025 and recently enrolled earlier this month.
“It is always good to have somebody you already knowing going into school,” Land mentioned. “It for sure can’t hurt anything. Hopefully he will show me the way around when I get up there. It will be awesome.”
