In that 2023 campaign, the 6-foot and 205-pound Shapen completed 184 of 298 passes (61.7%) for 2,188 yards with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions in eight games played (missed last four games due to injury). In 2022, Shapen started all 13 games and completed 233 of 368 passes (63.3%) for 2,790 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions along with two rushing touchdowns. For his college career, Shapen has passed for 5,574 yards with 36 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Sources also told Maroon and White Daily that the Bulldogs’ goal is to sign two quarterbacks from the transfer portal. With the addition of Shapen in January, the Bulldogs also have redshirt freshman Chris Parson and senior Mike Wright as scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. Former Bulldog and four-year starter Will Rogers entered the transfer portal earlier this month.
