St. Thomas (Fla.) Aquinas High School’s Dylan Steen joined Mississippi State’s Class of 2026 last month and was one of several offensive linemen to commit to the Bulldogs during that stretch.

With that decision made, the On3 three-star prospect has now turned his focus on experiencing another deep postseason run in Florida’s Class 7A ranks. As he did last year, Steen will play multiple positions in the trenches.

“Just getting faster and stronger,” Steen remarked. “That’s the main goal. At my position, I am working on my hands and my hand placement in the run game. I will be at guard and tackle again so I have to prepare for all of it.”

During his recruiting process, Steen managed to collect several SEC and Power 4 offers. And before entering that situation, Steen had plenty of family advice to soak in due to his older brothers. That includes NFL player and former Alabama standout Tyler Steen along with Blake Steen, who began his college career at Virginia before transferring to Mississippi State this summer.

“Watching them play football, I think I learned and picked up a lot,” explained the 6-foot-4 and 280-pound Steen. “It helps having someone to look up to as an example. They all helped me to improve and just watching them gave me great examples.”

Regarding his recent commitment, Steen has maintained a steady line of communication with his future position coach in Phil Loadholt.

“It’s been good since I committed,” Steen said. “I’ve been talking to Coach Loadholt and keeping that connection and it’s been cool. We were talking about the July 4th and what we were doing with grilling and all of that.”

At that next level, Steen has also discussed his position with the Bulldogs. That will include a permanent move inside and Steen simply wants to get on the field regardless of the position.

“Coach Loadholt likes me at guard,” Steen mentioned. “I am good with that and we talk mostly about guard. I am good with wherever he needs me. I just want to get on the field.”

All in all, Steen is also relieved to enter his senior season without any recruiting stress.

“It feels great to be done with recruiting,” noted Steen. “Now I can just focus on getting better at football. I don’t have to worry about all of these colleges or my decision. It is a weight off my chest. I still hear from a few schools but nothing serious.”
