Diamond Dawgs in the Show Update: July 1

It’s baseball season yet again.

The Major League Baseball season is underway and several former Mississippi State players are doing their thing on baseball’s biggest stage. That includes former State standout Jake Mangum who made his debut with Tampa Bay this year and he has made a major impact.

The State legend is one of seven former Bulldogs that are active in the league with several more likely in and out this year. A few players made moves in the offseason like Nathaniel Lowe going to Washington and Adam Frazier making his return to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jordan Westburg is back looking to build on his breakthrough season with the Baltimore Orioles while Brent Rooker is hoping to continue his great run with Oakland. State also has arms Brandon Woodruff and JP France working back recovering from injuries last season.

Over the last week, Rooker, Mangum and JT Ginn all would shine on the same field against each other. Ginn threw 3.2 perfect innings of relief,  Rooker finished 2-for-3 with a double and RBI while Mangum had a hit. Mangum also had seven more hits over the course of the last week with his first career triple.
