Diamond Dawgs in the Show Update: July 8

It’s baseball season yet again.
The Major League Baseball season is underway and several former Mississippi State players are doing their thing on baseball’s biggest stage. That includes former State standout Jake Mangum who made his debut with Tampa Bay this year and he has made a major impact.
The State legend is one of nine former Bulldogs that are active in the league with several more likely in and out this year. A few players made moves in the offseason like Nathaniel Lowe going to Washington and Adam Frazier making his return to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jordan Westburg is back looking to build on his breakthrough season with the Baltimore Orioles while Brent Rooker is hoping to continue his great run with Oakland. Brandon Woodruff is back after shoulder surgery and JP France is working back recovering from an injury last season.
Over the last week, Woodruff made his triumphant return to the MLB mound for the first time in nearly two years and pitched a gem of a start with a win in 6.0 innings giving up just two hits, one run and striking out eight batters. Lowe had two triples in six games and they were the first of the season for the first baseman.
Westburg only played in two games but had four hits and two home runs and Mangum hit his second homer of the season. Justin Foscue got his first hit of the season with his double.
