Diamond Dawgs in the Show Update: August 12

It’s baseball season yet again.
The Major League Baseball season is underway and several former Mississippi State players are doing their thing on baseball’s biggest stage. That includes former State standout Jake Mangum who made his debut with Tampa Bay this year and he has made a major impact.
The State legend is one of nine former Bulldogs that are active in the league with several more likely in and out this year. A few players made moves in the offseason like Nathaniel Lowe going to Washington and Adam Frazier made his return to the Pittsburgh Pirates before being traded to another familiar stop in Kansas City.
Jordan Westburg is back looking to build on his breakthrough season with the Baltimore Orioles while Brent Rooker is hoping to continue his great run with Oakland. Brandon Woodruff is back after shoulder surgery and JP France is working back recovering from an injury last season.
Over the last week, Woodruff kept it rolling as he earned his 50th career win and has now surrendered two runs or less in all six starts this season. Woodruff threw a season-high 7.0 innings in a win over the Mets. Also, J.T. Ginn struck out a career-high nine batters.
At the plate, Frazier had 10 hits in six games with three multi-hit games including a three-hit and four-hit contest back-to-back. Rooker had 11 hits in seven games with four multi-hit games and notched a new career high with his 28th double of the year.
