Mississippi State is in the middle of training camp but it hasn’t slowed down the Bulldogs’ progress in the Class of 2026. On Monday evening juco offensive tackle Jarmaine Mitchell announced his commitment to Mississippi State and became the 28th commitment for the Bulldogs in the class.

The 6-foot-8 and 310-pound Mitchell started every game last year as a freshman at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The Louisiana native was also one of Mississippi State’s top juco targets in this recruiting cycle and he was offered by Mississippi State last year.

“It was the way they made me feel at home,” explained Mitchell. “We have always have a good relationship and it was about that bond we had.”

Over the past several months, Mitchell has formed close connections with offensive line coach Phil Loadholt and head coach Jeff Lebby. He noted of those bonds and his thoughts on the staff.

“I really like the coaches there and they are straight forward,” Mitchell remarked. “Coach Loadholt is up front and he keeps it simple. He is a great coach and we got real tight lately. Same thing with Coach Jeff Lebby and we are tight, too, and he knows offensive linemen.”

Earlier this summer, Mitchell attended one of Mississippi State’s camp sessions. And it was on that day in June when he started to feel good about his Bulldog future.

“I would say I had a good feeling about Mississippi State back in June,” recalled Mitchell. “That’s when I worked out for them and it was a great day. That day I just had a good feeling that I was home in that environment. Everything felt like home.”

Mitchell held double-digit Division 1 offers and that includes other Power 4 offers from LSU, Ole Miss and Colorado. Mitchell reported recently that he will take an official visit to Mississippi State late in the fall.

“I will be taking my official visit to Mississippi State on November 28th,” noted Mitchell. “I look forward to that. I look forward to having a good time and being in that environment again.”

With his decision, Mitchell becomes the second juco commitment for State’s Class of 2026, joining current teammates and receiver Matt Mayfield, who joined the Bulldogs’ class last week.

Mitchell is expected to be a December graduate and is also the sixth offensive linemen to join State’s Class of 2026. The other offensive linemen commits are from the prep ranks with Dalton Toothman, Charles Humphrey, Camron Thompson, Dylan Steen and Jayden Ross.
