Freshman OL Jimothy Lewis plans to transfer from Mississippi State
A contributor on the offensive line is on the move for Mississippi State.
When the transfer portal opens on January 2, redshirt freshman Jimothy Lewis will enter it, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Lewis leaves after building some promise around his game the last two seasons.
Lewis was in and out of the starting lineup this year. Lewis was a starter in four of the seven games that he played this season to mixed results. The Bulldogs had offensive line struggles all year long and had three different players start at left tackle this season. Lewis also played some right tackle, but he didn’t play in the final game against Ole Miss.
After playing in four games last season, Lewis redshirted his first year on campus. There were high expectations for him coming into 2025 but he would come off the bench in the first game against Southern Miss. He made his first career start against Alcorn State.
A former Madison Ridgeland Academy lineman, Lewis was a touted recruit when he transferred to IMG Academy. He was a Rivals four-star recruit and was the No. 38 tackle in the country. He would commit to the Bulldogs during the summer of his senior season after picking up offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Michigan and several other teams.
