Diamond Dawgs finalize 2026 baseball schedule

Just a few weeks after the announcement of the SEC schedule, Mississippi State has finalized what is set to be an exciting first year of baseball for coach Brian O’Connor.

The Diamond Dawgs had an SEC slate that made waves when it was announced with an incredibly difficult road set ahead for the first-year coach. The Bulldogs are playing last year’s College World Series teams in National Champion LSU and also Arkansas on the schedule. The Bulldogs also play Super Regional teams Auburn and Tennessee as well as matchups with Georgia, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Texas and Texas A&M.

The non-conference portion of the schedule was finalized on Wednesday as O’Connor and his staff now have the full scope of the schedule ahead. The schedule is highlighted with a trip to Arlington, Texas, to take part in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field.

State will have three non-conference matchups in Arlington as the Diamond Dawgs start with Arizona State on Friday, February 27 at 11 a.m. They’ll also play Virginia Tech on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. and then UCLA at 2:30 p.m. on March 1.

The Diamond Dawgs will start the season on February 13-15 with a three-game set against Hofstra and will stay at home until that trip to Arlington. State plays a midweek game again against Troy on Feb. 17 and will play Alcorn State on Feb. 18 before a weekend set against Delaware on Feb. 20-22. They close out the homestand with a midweek with Austin Peay on Feb. 24.

There will also be matchups in the midweek against Southern Miss in a home and home series again this year on March 3 at Hattiesburg and March 24 at Starkville, and the Bulldogs play Tulane in Biloxi on March 10. The Annual Governor’s Cup game against Ole Miss will take place on April 28 in Pearl.
