Since Brian O’Connor arrived, the coach has been busy not only building next year’s baseball roster but the future rosters as well.

O’Connor got his first high school commitment this week in the form of former Virginia commit and catcher Hunter Strohm for the 2026 class. The coach flipped another one of his former commits on Sunday with New Jersey SS Noah Danza announcing his commitment to State.

The Gloucester Catholic middle infielder is growing into one of the top players in the country and profiles well at his 6’2, 205-pound frame with another year still left of high school ball. Danza had a standout sophomore season at Gloucester when he batted .436 with 34 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and 28 RBI. He added another six doubles, two home runs and 26 hits this season batting .299.

His team has won three-straight state championships.

During his junior season, Danza was rated the No. 15 player in the state of New Jersey and the No. 3 player at his position in the state. His future could be in the infield or in the outfield.

With Danza and Strohm on board, O’Connor has built a strong future with players that he is familiar with. He and his staff have also landed four players that were playing for the Cavaliers last year as RHP Tomas Valincius, OF Aidan Teel and James Nunnallee and UTL Chone James all picked State out of the transfer portal. Others like 3B Henry Ford and SS Eric Becker are also major targets for the coach.
