Dakota Jordan's monster week leads to Co-Player of the Week honors by SEC

There’s no coincidence that Mississippi State’s nine-game winning streak has come right in the middle of a red-hot streak from Dakota Jordan.
The sophomore’s week this past week was especially strong as he hit home runs in all four games and earned the SEC’s Co-Player of the Week honor. It was a big reason why the Bulldogs were 4-0 during the week.
Another player that is red hot is sharing the award with Jordan this week in Georgia’s Charlie Condon.
The week began for Jordan on Tuesday at Trustmark Park in Pearl against instate foe Southern Miss. Jordan was 2-for-4 in the game with three RBI and hit a home run in the seventh inning that would break a tie and hand the Diamond Dawgs a 5-4 come-from-behind win.
“We were just keeping a positive mindset. We went down a couple of games earlier this year, but we knew we could do whatever we needed to win,” Jordan said. “It feels good, especially doing it in your hometown where your family and friends can come watch you.”

A three-game set with Evansville started on Friday with a bang for Jordan. He was 4-for-4 with four RBI, a double, home run and a walk. He was 2-for-3 with four more RBI on a double, home run and a walk in game two and he capped the weekend by hitting a home run in the first inning on Sunday to drive in two more runs and was intentionally walked three times.
The Canton native is now leading the team in almost every category batting .414 on the year with 24 hits, eight home runs, seven doubles, 26 RBI, a .958 slugging percentage, .547 on base % and 16 walks.
“He made a mechanical change about ten days ago, and you started to see it a little bit last weekend, but Tuesday you really saw it start to come out,” head coach Chris Lemonis said. “We’re seeing it in BP, just starting to work a little harder, and you’re seeing it on the field.”
Jordan and his teammates are back in action on Tuesday when the team heads to Biloxi to play South Alabama at 6 p.m. at the Shuckers’ Stadium. They will play New Orleans on Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
